stay hungry, stay foolish…

title

This man has been at the top, and been at the bottom. If you’ve got some time on your lunch break, check out this commencement address by Steve Jobs.

1. Connect the dots from your past to see where you are now…have confidence the dots will connect in your future.
2. Do what you believe is great work by doing what you love. If you haven’t found what you love yet, don’t settle.
3. Ask yourself in the morning, if today was the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do today?

Stay hungry, stay foolish.

Around this time of year so many of us are surrounded by transition.  Photographers are having work piled on top of work as weddings start blurring together…students are starting new grades in school…companies pledging better returns this quarter. Instead of blasting more photography, I wanted to share a bit of recent inspiration for me.

This is a 20 minute film on how we are all unique & beautiful, and that we can reach potential greater than our current circumstances may imply.  Great story, great soundtrack, beautiful filming. Thanks Lauren for sharing.

Giving props to Bill Sosin, Chicago artist & photographer (and my uncle), for his most recent accomplishment of being selected as one of ten Excellence Award winners with Color magazine.  His work entitled City Rain is featured on pages 76-81 in the Collectors of Fine Photography issue in August ‘09.

side note….. above is one of an entire year’s worth of work shooting a toy plastic, medium format film camera called a Holga.  these images will be interspersed in posting, and will culminate in an online fine-art gallery. kvq

The Entrepreneur’s Creed (or American’s Creed)

I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon – if I can. I seek opportunity – not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk, to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentive for a dole; I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence, the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of Utopia.

I will not trade my freedom for beneficence, nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master, not bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud, and unafraid; to think and act for myself, to enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say:

This, with my family and friends, I have done. All this is what it means to be an entrepreneur.
